There’s a great comedy show planned in a bid to help reduce student debt, and you can make a difference.
The Muslim Students Association (MSA) at the University of the Witwatersrand will be hosting the show on 3 August with the objective of continuing the fees must fall narrative.

The show, titled #FunnyforFees18, will bring awareness of financial issues faced by students in universities.
Thaakirah Savahl, one of the show’s organisers said, “We as MSA have chosen to host a comedy show to bring about more awareness of the pressing issues that are experienced by university students and we aim at using humour to bring about such awareness.”
The association encourages students and the public to fill Wits University on the day to enjoy a good laugh and make a difference in the life of a financially needy student.
Savahl said, “It’s going to be an amazing event, with some of South Africa’s best comedians who have committed to assisting us in our endeavours. We hope that people out there are equally concerned about students’ historical debts, and they should buy a ticket to assist MSA Wits in clearing it.”

Savahl shared the sentiments of millions of South Africans and said it is unfortunate that many students who are academically deserving are financially limited.
While many choose to ignore the realities of university affordability, MSA is actively working to make a difference in this situation.
This is the second instalment of #FunnyforFees and will feature Deep Fried Man, Lihle Msimang, Suhayl Essa and many others. Savahl said last year’s edition was a huge success and is the main reason MSA decided to do it again this year.
They hope to raise a lot more money this time and can only do so if people come in their numbers.
