Berario’s Mrs South Africa Globe impacts lives in the DRC
BERARIO – Mrs South Africa Globe Zeenath Desai swapped her pageant heels for sneakers as she helped change lives in the DRC.
Mrs South Africa Globe, Zeenath Desai, recently spent time in Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo to give back to the women and children of the underprivileged town.
Her humanitarian work in the country involved assisting in goitre operations for women as well as the distribution of sanitary towels to women and orphaned children who had all suffered severe circumstances.
The Berario resident said her mission is to instil the belief in women and future children.
“The thing I try to live by is to always aspire to be a better version of myself and in doing so make myself available to others,” said Desai.

Through this trip, she hoped that she in some way gave back dignity to the women and children she meets through the pageant’s main charity, Dignity Dreams project.
She thinks it’s imperative that all women use their influence to uplift those around them, “Our roles as women can be a very heavy burden to carry, but it is the most powerful position where we can influence the very fabric of society and we should never take that for granted.”

Desai believes the best way one can find themselves is to lose themselves in the service of others, and firmly stated since she can live a comfortable life, she can lend a hand and help others do the same.
“May we all be the change we want to see in the world,” said Desai.
She explained through the pageant it gives her the platform to be able to touch both local and international communities.
She said she is proud of her title and her mission is to help young girls and women to believe in themselves while equipping them to go out and live to their full potential.
In November she will head to Shenzhen, China where she will represent the country globally
