No injuries reported after a house fire
LINDEN – The cause of the fire that caused damage to the house is not yet known.
A fire broke at a home on 5th Street in Linden on 3 July at around 10.20am, no injuries were reported.
Linden police, Johannesburg Metro Police Department and Emergency Services were at the scene. Spokesperson Constable Takalani Matumba said, “A fire broke out at this home but we are not yet sure of what the cause of the fire is. We have opened an inquiry docket into the fire.”
Most of the house had burnt down but luckily the two people in the house at the time had managed to get out and no injuries were reported. According to the owner, her helper and aunt were in the house. She said, “Someone in the house had noticed the lights going off and when they came back on, they saw smoke coming from one of the rooms.”
The cause of the fire is not yet known as EMS was waiting for the safety officers to investigate the cause. The house was badly damaged with the roof coming down and cracks in the walls. The people in the house had been moved outside and close family of the owner who lived nearby was able to help.
