KGAOGELO NTSIE: I would direct all resources to education because the better education one has the better decisions they will make. Education is so important and powerful that even when parents die and leave their children they can still take care of themselves because they have the means to.
Reactions and responses to President Cyril Ramaphosa‘s State of the Nation Address on 13 February flooded every screen as soon as he was done.
Many were disappointed with hearing the same rhetoric while others are looking forward to seeing if the president will fulfil his promises.
The students of Saint Augustine College of South Africa shared a few ideas on what would get their attention first in order to change the countries trajectory. Here is what they had to say…
LESEDI MDAKANE: Access to education is key because education is vital to all of our success. In order for us to see change, I believe the youth of South Africa should have access to education so they too can prosper like all those with it.TSHWARELO MAROPOLA: Land reform because we aren’t all benefiting from it. If more people shared the land with others there would be massive improvements in the economic conditions for everyone.MOHLATLEGO KGWALE: Political deployments have failed us and State-Owned Enterprises. All of them need bailouts due to the nature in which they have been managed. We need to start looking for people with good credentials and employ them regardless of their political affiliations.SARAH HORSHID-ZADA: I believe education, but at its earliest stage, is where we need to focus on to improve the country. Children in pre-school are at the beginning of how they will think forever. We need to ensure that the ways in which they are thinking, help them reach their fullest potential.GIFT HLOMEDLINI: My focus would be given to education as it is the most direct way to improve the lives of people. We need to ensure that everyone can start school and finish and leave with a respectable education that they can use to uplift themselves.
