Roosevelt substation trips, leaving residents in the dark for nearly 12 hours
NORTHCLIFF – Some residents said this is not the first time that after load-shedding the Roosevelt substation has tripped.
City Power alerted residents in Northcliff, Fairland, Emmarentia, Linden and in Roosevelt Park of a power outage following a trip at the Roosevelt substation in the early hours of this morning, 11 March.
In a statement, City Power said the power outage occurred after load-shedding at 4.30am. A team was on-site and working on repairs and restorations. Residents had no power for nearly 12 hours.
The power returned around midday today (11 March), City Power apologised to residents for the inconvenience.
#RooseveltPark is fully restored, Blocks 6B & 2A all customers restored.
We appreciate your patience & understanding during this difficult time. ^DR

The outage affected traffic lights in the area including Beyers Naudé Drive and Republic Road.
Some residents were not happy, saying this is not the first time this has happened.
When will you learn? You need to stop loadshedding areas that work off Roosevelt SS! For crying out loud! The system NEVER comes back on without massive problems! 😡😡😡

Residents also wonder if they will be load-shed again at 4pm as they are scheduled to be.
Then please no loadshedding again at 4.30 pm today again

Only for you to loadshed us at 4pm? Think carefully about that course of action.

By midday and then off again from 16h30……do you think maybe we could be spared that one or worse case have a team on site so that when it trips AGAIN tonight they can switch us back on???? #justasking

Will the area still be affected by loadshedding as scheduled?
