Suspected Milpark laptop thief arrested

PARKVIEW – The car in the possession of the suspect was reported stolen in 2017.

A suspect who was identified for laptop theft has been arrested after being found in a stolen car.

Security officers at Flora Clinic helped the police apprehend a theft suspect they have been looking for. According to Parkview Police Station spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, the 38-year-old man was arrested at Flora Clinic after security guards there informed the station of the man’s presence. The suspect was linked to a stolen laptop at Milpark Hospital and it was discovered that the vehicle he was using had been reported stolen.

Captain Sibeko said, “The investigating officer received a call from Flora Clinic that the security officers apprehended the suspect, the suspect was arrested and detained. Through further investigation it was discovered that the suspect was driving a motor vehicle that was reported stolen in Krugersdorp in 2017.”

The suspect first caught the police’s attention in April when he allegedly stole a laptop at Milpark Hospitial. “The complainant left his office at Milpark Hospital to perform his duties, he left his laptop on the table and when he came back, he noticed that his laptop had been stolen.” A case of theft was reported at the station and a photo of the suspect was circulated at Netcare hospitals.

In addition to the theft case, a charge of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle was added. The station commander, Colonel Theledi Gopane, commended the investigating officer together with the security officers at the clinic for their teamwork and ensuring that the community is protected and safe. Police stated they will continue to investigate the matter as the suspect remains behinds bars.
