City of Joburg host mass Covid-19 testing and screening in Melville

MELVILLE – Inner City, Alexandra and Soweto's regions are among the top three Covid-19 infected spots in the city.

City of Joburg is using their resources to actively test the public for and educate the public on Covid-19.

As Covid-19 cases continue to rise in Johannesburg, the City of Joburg hosted various screening and testing campaigns across the city. The suburb of Melville was next on the list, as on 10 July, the City, along with the National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS) and other healthcare practitioners, availed all their services to help the public know their Covid-19 status. From as early as 8.30am the team, stationed at Super SPAR Melville tested anyone and everyone who felt the need to.

At the same time, the City was also having operations along 7th Street and 4th Avenue in Melville to monitor and reinforce compliance of the business community as they continue to operate during the pandemic. As of 15 July, (the latest’s statistics available prior to publishing) the City of Johannesburg region had a total of 50 364 confirmed positive cases, 299 Covid-19 deaths and 25 463 recoveries.
