Northcliff community goes all out to find Harvey

NORTHCLIFF – The R20 000 reward was organised and sponsored by residents and businesses in the community

The family of a missing French bulldog is still looking to bring their furry little friend home.

The search for Harvey, Northcliff’s missing five-year-old French bulldog, continues. On 17 July, the community of Northcliff along with various business and organisations held a massive search party for Harvey and the search hasn’t stopped. Not only has the community come out with their face masks and hand sanitiser to try and find Harvey but they have also put together a R20 000 reward for anyone who can ultimately bring Harvey home.

Owners Dimitri and Roxy Athanasopoulos have had sleepless nights worrying over Harvey and his well-being since they last saw him in the house on 12 July. Dimitri said, “It’s very traumatic for us and it’s heartbreaking that we haven’t found him yet. To us, Harvey is our child so we are going through what any other human would if they wanted to see their loved one back home.” A statement from Harvey’s family read, “Please bring Harvey home, whether you picked him up because you simply loved him and wanted to keep him, or whether you had motives propelled by financial gain. To some, he may just be a dog but to us, he is a precious, core part of our family, our joy, our heartbeat and we will never give up.”

During the search, the present members of the community were split into groups and spread across Northcliff, Greymont, Linden and Roosevelt Park to share pamphlets with photos and details of the dog and contact details of Harvey’s owners. Many street lights and poles across these areas now display these flyers in the hopes that anyone who has seen Harvey can contact the relevant people.

Dimitri has thanked all those who have used their energy and resources to try help find Harvey. He also thanked the local security companies that have involved themselves in helping them. On the day of the search party and days since then, Beagle Watch Armed Response and SCP Security have been keeping an eye and ear out for Harvey on the streets. Harvey is a fawn-coloured french bulldog and he is micro-chipped.
