Fighting crime and Covid-19
BRIXTON – Police pledge to build stronger relationships with the community in 2021.
Police thank officers and staff for risking even more in 2020 to keep members of the community safe and secure.
Brixton Police Station is pleased and blessed to finally reach the end of the year after being faced with the challenge that was Covid-19. Like billions across the world, the station had to find a way to not only continue their safety and security efforts for the year but also enforce rules and regulations that come with Covid-19.
With all the hurdles that stood in the station’s way over the last year, Station Commander Colonel Mkhacani Maluleke was most pleased with the discipline, commitment and enthusiasm shown by his officers and station staff to keep all safe from Covid and crime.
“To each and every member at Brixton from the lowest rank to the highest, the station’s management along with myself want to thank you all for your commitment and dedication facing such a difficult year. Working as a team we overcame a lot of obstacles, facing a national disaster. We are proud that we faced this together as a team, you are all the cream of the crop.”
Maluleke is an advocate for team work and acknowledged that their abilities to fulfil their responsibilities was assisted by their various partners in the community. From the Brixton Community Policing Forum to the security companies and patrollers that worked with the station this year, the station commander was grateful for their support. “The station wouldn’t be able to achieve without the dedication and support of our partners. We boldly say you are not partners but family.”
The station commander did not forget about the people who make up, live and play in the Brixton Policing Precinct. Along with wishing them a safe and blessed festive season, the station hopes the new year will come with new and positive changes for the community.
Maluleke shared, “As we approach the new year we would like to wish you a blessed and prosperous year. The New Year is a new start and a new beginning so let’s not take 2020 into 2021, rather we leave it all behind.”
He also pledged that the station will build a stronger relationship with the community in 2021 which should result in a safe area for all. “We need to stand together in solidarity in combatting crime, together we are stronger. It is the collective responsibility of the police and the community as a whole to combat crime.”
