Linden Runner AC take on #Koppiestrailrun
MELVILLE – This epic running experience is all in hopes that small businesses can benefit.
It was a glorious day for a morning run on 22 May when Linden Runner AC hosted the 17th #Koppiestrailrun.
As per tradition, it was a free run, which provides avid trail runners in need of some technical training, a platform to explore Melville Koppies and surrounding areas.

Chairman of the club, Estie Van Heerden said in their aim to support local coffee shops, this run started and ended at Yield Coffee Bar in Linden. She added that the next run will be on 19 June and will move to another local coffee shop to ensure the club and runners give financial support to all businesses.
“We had a crisp start but we were rewarded with a stunning sunrise over Alberts Farm, with wild arum lilies in full bloom. Melville Koppies is always majestic especially this time of the year when we can run on the ridge and get a full view of the city. When you are up there, you cannot think that we live in a city. One of the runners has lived in Joburg for over 30 years and never had the opportunity to run such good trails right here in our own neighbourhood. Safety in numbers and a good understanding of the East and West Koppies routes makes this a great event for the club,” said Van Heerden.

Van Heerden shared the #koppiestrailrun are for experienced trail runners who can run well over technical rocky terrain without difficulty. “Runners are encouraged to test gear and nutrition on these runs in preparation for a jam-packed winter season.”

Strict Covid-19 rules apply and Linden Runner invites all good trail runners for some fresh air and a challenging 2hr morning run in nature.
