Couple allegedly electrocuted

CROSBY – Public urged to desist from tempering with electricity infrastructure, vandalism and illegal connections.


City Power is investigating an incident in which a couple was apparently electrocuted.

Gauteng police have confirmed that the bodies of the couple were found inside a shower in their Crosby home on 13 June.
According to City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena, the power utility’s CEO Mongezi Ntsokolo has requested an urgent investigation into the allegations that the couple were killed by a faulty electricity connection attributed to the illegal connections in the area.

Mangena said on 14 June City Power had begun a preliminary investigation to establish the facts around the incident. Mangena added, β€œWhile we a busy with investigations, we urge the residents to desist from tampering with electricity infrastructure, vandalism and illegal connections which may lead to the circuit malfunctioning.”

Police are still awaiting post-mortem results and could not confirm the cause of death.
