FAIRLAND – Police look to bring cable destroying truck driver to book with your help.


Truck driver vanishes after damaging City Power infrastructure.

Fairland Police and City Power are looking to hold the driver responsible for Fairland power outage caused by the dragging and destroying of cables, poles and trees on July 7. The station’s spokesperson, Sergeant Michael Kgatla, confirmed that a case of malicious damage to infrastructure was opened, after a white truck with a yellow trailer left live cables exposed.

Police and authorities had no choice but to cordon off roads near the scene to ensure that no one is harmed or killed by the live wires. Police suspect the driver was trying to flee the scene after causing damage to overhead cables, resulting in more damage.

According to the Fairland Community Policing Forum, who was on the scene shortly afterwards, provided details of the truck allegedly involved in the incident.

  • Trailer registration: DD75CZ GP.

Police have not yet been able to locate the suspect but are currently investigating it. Anyone with information on the incident, truck, or driver, is advised to contact the police station as soon as possible.
