Body of fetus found at the Fairland Koppies

FAIRLAND – The fetus was found in a plastic bag.

The body of a new-born baby was found at the Fairland Koppies on October 6.

Sergeant Michael Kgatla of Fairland Police Station explained that it was a displaced man who rushed to the station at about 07:30 that morning to report what he had found. “The displaced man said while at the koppies he found a plastic bag that had blood on it, and when he investigated further he found there was a new-born baby inside.”
On the morning of the incident paramedics were also on-site.

A case has now been opened at the station. This is the first time that an incident like this takes place at the koppies. However, a similar incident occurred about three months ago within the Fairland area.

The station compels anyone with information to come forward or call the station on 011 478 9414.
