Jane’s list of super foods

AUCKLAND PARK – Author, Jane Griffiths shares on what her new book and what it's all about.

Local author, Jane Griffiths, recently launched her sixth book, Jane’s Delicious Superfoods for Super Health.

The book is said to be a comprehensive guide to more than 150 delicious, nutrient-rich foods which, when eaten as part of a balanced diet, boost our immune system, improve our health and reduce the risk of disease.

“My journey towards healthier eating began more than 25 years ago, when I started growing my own herbs, vegetables and fruit using natural and sustainable methods. The lessons I’ve learned while growing organic food apply to my health and well-being too,” she said. “As I became more aware of the importance of beneficial soil microorganisms and how destructive pesticides and chemicals are, so I became more conscious of food additives and preservatives, and what I was putting into my body. I started questioning where food came from and how it was made. I began understanding how health is inextricably linked to what we eat.”

From asparagus to zucchini, maca root to shiitake mushrooms, chickpeas to pomegranates, buckwheat to Brazil nuts, the book covers fruits and vegetables, seeds and grains, herbs and spices, nuts, seaweeds, mushrooms and more. It has a wealth of detailed information that explains why these foods are good for you, as well as how to maximise their benefits and incorporate them easily into our daily meals.

“In much the same way that healthy, fertile soil produces strong and nutritious plants, so eating a balanced and nourishing diet is the foundation for a healthy body and vigorous immune system. The key to healthy eating is to consume a wide variety of nutritious foods in the right quantities.”
