With so much negativity and xenophobia, Africa month is a moment to reflect and embrace people from the continent.
It could be argued that Africa Month is a fairly unknown celebration or event to most people.
Africa Month commemorates the founding of the Organisation of African Unity in 1963, the precursor to the African Union.
In light of recent events and headlines about xenophobia and negative news, people are very keen to reinforce the notion of solidarity with other countries on the continent and between individuals. Johannesburg is a melting pot of nationalities and the vast majority of people want peace and to live a peaceful life.
