What Queen Elizabeth II means to them

Locals share their views on Queen Elizabeth II's legacy.

Though she is all the way in jolly ol’ England, Queen Elizabeth II still has a effect on some of our locals.

As her Platinum Jubilee is being celebrated, community members reflect on her 70 years of being head of state and head of the Common Wealth.

This is what locals had to say about her legacy…

ANTOINETTE MCCULLOCH: I think the Queen is a remarkable individual. Throughout all the drama and problems her kids have caused her, she has maintained her integrity and her stoicism.
EMILY WELLMAN BAIN: I think the legacy of the Queen’s 70 years on the throne is the strengthening of the commonwealth of nations – 54 countries working together for prosperity, democracy and peace.
