Sophiatown police made numerous arrests in May.

Captain TJ de Bruyn said three people were arrested for unlicensed firearms, 70 for possession of drugs, six for attempted murder and four for drunk driving.

“Another person was arrested for murder and another two suspects were arrested for dealing in medication,” he said. Other arrests were for kidnapping, robbery, shoplifting, possession of stolen goods and a motorcycle, as well as illegal ammunition.

De Bruyn thanked the community for their effort to help the fight against crime, and urged the public to continue to be vigilant, report crime and any suspicious activity.
