Teamwork ensures successful arrest and recover stolen security camera in Melville

Melville resident, security companies and SAPS worked together and apprehended the suspect.

A chase involving Melville community members, Beagle Watch officers, Melville Security Initiative (MSI), and the SAPS resulted in the successful apprehension of a suspect in Melville.

According to a statement by Beagle Watch, a shop owner in Melville recognised a suspect from a picture that had been circulated on the community business group, and pursued the suspect on August 3. Another client alerted the security company’s response officer, who also gave chase and requested back-up.

Beagle Watch’s area specialist, Leon van Zyl, and the MSI’s Danyle Nunes responded and the suspect was apprehended at a service station in Melville.

The suspect was then taken into custody by the police.

Beagle Watch added that CCTV cameras that were previously reported stolen were recovered from the suspect’s room. He is also wanted in connection with several cases of CCTV theft in Melville and Auckland Park.
