Art that saves the planet in Greymont

The youth sits down with the paper to share how his creativity is saving the planet.

Meet Katlego Silota, a local youth who spends his days upcycling waste products into usable products.

Here is what he had to say about his love for the arts that helps ensure the sustainability of the planet…

I like doing artistic things such as drawing and creating handmade goods. I also find enjoyment in exploring other art forms such as interior design, carpentry and architecture. I have been training for the past year to create art from waste products and this has grown my creativity.

I have really grown to love glasswork because it has taught me that I can create something new such as light fixtures and drinking glasses from old bottles. I have learned that what I am doing is not only building my creativity, but most importantly, I am doing my bit in cleaning up the world.

Along with glasswork, I also love painting portraits of people.

In future, I hope to use the skills I have gained to help other people and show them that they can create their own jobs so they can provide for their families
