Sandile Nkosi: I was affected negatively by the strike because I couldn't catch up with my tasks and projects.
Wits University students took to the streets last week to protest ‘financial exclusion, historical debt and lack of funding’.
Northcliff Melville Times asked students how the recent protests had affected them.
Here is what some students had to say:
Dimpho Nkwana: The strike affected me really badly. Generally, I’m a student that likes going to classes and I couldn’t get to my classes on time because of the strike. I couldn’t interact in class and lastly, it just led to me having anxiety because I didn’t know what was going to happen and how long it was going to last.Boitumelo Khaue: The strike affected me in a way that drained me emotionally. We can`t study and some of us come from different families so it is difficult.Nkosinathi Magadla: It affected me negatively because I am now behind with my studies.Sonwabo Zondo: It affected us badly because there is inequality where only privileged students get a chance to study. While those of us who are from disadvantaged backgrounds can hardly access registration and we miss out on a lot.
