A domestic talk that promotes safety
Beagle Watch Armed Response hosted a domestic talk that encouraged and educated domestic workers and gardeners on safety measures.
Beagle Watch Armed Response recently hosted domestic workers and gardeners to a free Domestic Talk they hosted in Linden.
The organisation sees it as important to host these talks because often, it’s domestic workers and gardeners who are the first to be approached by criminals to gain entry onto one’s house or yard. So, learning safety and security measures is vital for them and everyone within the home should also know the basic principles of safety.

Through these talks, which are hosted monthly in some areas, they are educated on personal and home safety as well as fire safety, medical issues, pool safety, and how to safely accept a courier parcel. In some instances, much like this day, they also have an officer from the local police station attend. Sergeant Takalani Sibiya of Linden Police Station spoke on Gender-Based Violence, a topic she sees as important to talk about.
As domestic workers and gardeners are often seen as easy targets for criminals, it’s important to help safeguard them. Along with this they are also often the caretakers of homes during the day.

“Domestic staff members are often at your home, alone with your children and animals for most of the day. It is therefore very important that they know what to do and how to react in case of an emergency,” said André Aiton, Beagle Watch managing director.
