Zania Weirich: I exercise my right to vote because I feel need to do it for my country
The Northcliff Melville Times newspaper spoke to fellow voters about the current elections and this is what they had to say:
Patrick Weirich: I have always voted. I have never missed a vote.Zania Weirich: I exercise my right to vote because I feel need to do it for my country.Grant Lawrence: This is an awesome country and we vote to make it a better country and to save its awesomeness. I have travelled the world and this country has some friendly people!Eloise Lawrence: I vote so that I have a say in how our country is run and help make change in our country.
Some voting stations got off to a slower start than others. Ward 99 councillor Nicole Van Dyk shared her frustration earlier on, “Franklin D Roosevelt Primary School and Berario Recreation Centre voting stations are still struggling with long queues and VMD (voting management device) machines that aren’t working. She said the officials of the IEC didn’t know how to use these devices. Adding they (the DA) had to source a video on how to use the device from the National IEC which they then had to show to local officials.”
