Nathanael Block from AIEM delivered an important and educational talk on CPR, stopping the bleed, and choking. He demonstrated different scenarios and provided learners with the opportunity to participate in practical exercises. His lecture was well-received, underlining his expertise as an instructor.

Retired divisional fire chief Richard Eustace engaged the students with an informative presentation on the dangers of fire, different types of fires, and fire safety measures. His presentation was filled with humor and intriguing facts, captivating the learners’ attention.

Adding to the excitement, George Tonking of Bidvest treated the students to an epic fly-by in his R44 turbine helicopter. His aerial manoeuvres provided incredible entertainment and served as the highlight of the event, reminiscent of a scene from the movie Top Gun.

“As one of the organisers, I thoroughly enjoyed spending the two days educating and demonstrating the various emergency services. We are fortunate to have these services readily available at our fingertips, and it is reassuring to know that we can count on each other for assistance,” he said

Maher explained that the partnership between emergency services is more than just professional; it is a big family working together with a common goal of keeping our community, elderly, families, and children safe 24/7.

“We feel blessed to be of service to such a cool and supportive community. The event was a success, leaving a lasting impact on the Grade 9 learners at De La Salle Holy Cross College and emphasising the importance of emergency services and safety in our daily lives.”
