Meet ERA’s new executive committee

It's new chairperson, Saber Manjoo shares what he hopes to achieve along side this valiant team.

The Emmarentia Residents Association (ERA) recently welcomed a new executive committee headed by chairperson Saber Manjoo.
Manjoo has lived in Emmarentia for four years and has been a member of the association for two. He believes it is important to be part of the ERA as it is able drive change for the area and community. “It is representative of ratepayers and does have clout when dealing with stakeholders,” he expressed.

With his term only being for a year, he has a few things he hopes to achieve. He wants to create a spatial plan for the community that will set up the framework for how and where development needs to occur. “We need to deal with this by creating a plan that we all sign up to that sets out where and how development should proceed.”
Manjoo also, wants to engage with community members to raise the bar for better streets, maintained public open spaces, and a safer suburb.
He noted other challenges were service delivery issues such as poorly marked roads, overgrown public open spaces, potholes, and water and electricity issues. “It is no different to the rest of the city, however, the drop/lack of service delivery is now causing a blight to set in our beautiful suburb.”
He loves that the community is a highly active one where people are able to run, walk, cycle, an canoe, in what he thinks is quite possibly the greenest suburb in Joburg.
