This remarkable feat highlights the team’s growth and excellence with head coach and manager Siyabonga Sibiya at the helm. In a highly anticipated Johannesburg derby against Wits University, UJ delivered a commanding performance. They posted an impressive 240/10 in 49.5 overs, leaving Wits struggling to reach just 60 all out in 19.0 overs. UJ’s dominant display resulted in a resounding 180-run victory, solidifying their championship status.

“We are thrilled with the boys’ performance,” expressed Sibiya. “This victory is proof of the dedication and hard work the entire team puts in every day. Winning this league three times in four seasons demonstrates UJ’s growth over the years. Congratulations to the players, the technical team, and the entire UJ Cricket community for this outstanding achievement.
“This group of players has been courageous, disciplined and committed to everything we have asked of them; they deserve the accolades.”
This triumph follows closely on the heels of the UJ Premier B team’s qualification for the upcoming CGL Premier B T20 final and the UJ women’s cricket team’s victory in the Lions Club League 2024/25 Black Widow T20 earlier this month, marking a period of unparalleled success for UJ Cricket.
