Roosevelt High takes early lead in Champions Cricket League

The Champions Cricket League got off to a strong start for Roosevelt High School's junior cricket team with a 100-run victory against Ferndale High, securing their place at the top of the log.

Congratulations are in order for Roosevelt High’s junior cricket team, who have made their school immensely proud with their remarkable victory in the opening match of the season.

Under the guidance of coach Nelson Muneka, the team faced off against Ferndale High School in a thrilling encounter.

After weeks of rigorous training, strategic preparation, and skills development, they were eager to kick off the Champions Cricket League, competing against ten schools.

Their hard work paid off, as they secured an impressive win by 100 runs, propelling them to the top of the league standings.

Muneka expressed his pride in the team’s achievement, stating that securing a victory in their opening match is a significant accomplishment. “It boosts our confidence and reinforces our commitment to continuous improvement. Our goal is to refine our performance with each game, striving to remain at the top of the log and ultimately win the league.”

Rithabile Riba was named Man of the Match after scoring an outstanding half-century, contributing significantly to the team’s success, building momentum as they face off against Greenside in their next fixture.

As the new season unfolds, Roosevelt B currently leads the standings with four points, closely followed by:
• 2nd: Greenside A
• 3rd: Greenside B
• 4th: Mondeor B
• 5th: Sir John Adamson High School
• 6th: Ferndale High
• 7th: Hyde Park B
• 8th: Sacred Heart B

With the momentum from this victory, Roosevelt High’s junior cricket team are highly motivated to maintain their strong performance throughout the season.
