When nightfall sets in Brixton
Resident of this community, Dominique Philippopoulos makes sure to capture all the beauty her community exudes.
Like a scene from the Serengeti at dusk, so too was a recent sunset in Brixton that bathed the suburb in a sublime hue of orange.

Dominique Philippopoulos, a resident of 23 years, captured the wondrous scene. “I think that we are so often looking down, trying to cope, managing life, that we forget to look up,” she said. For her, sharing sunsets reminds people there is beauty around us, even through one’s struggles.

The teacher said sunsets in her community were beautiful, as they have a magical way of lighting up the neighbourhood
This particular sunset was taken on April 29 as it set around 17:40. “Brixton is unique, we have sunrises, the park, our tower and soon two water towers.” She added that there were some historic houses which needed to be recorded before they were demolished for new developments.

Philippopoulos said that her neighbourhood had an incredible mix of culture and skilled people. “We have community groups, accommodation groups, and a market group all working to keep Brixton united and informed. We also have the light festivals that celebrate our park and our diversity.”
