Vintage cars and community talent light up Greydene Church’s final market of 2025
From raffle tickets to performances, the final Greydene Market delivered on all fronts.
The Greydene Church wrapped up its final market of 2025 on Friday with a lively community celebration that drew strong support from vendors, residents, and visitors alike.
The year’s last market featured both a vintage car show and a talent show, adding extra excitement to an already popular monthly event.

Despite the weather setback, turnout on the day was described as excellent by market organiser Larnie Solomon. Rows of classic and vintage cars lined the venue, drawing in car enthusiasts, while the talent show showcased performers of all ages and cultures.

A monthly raffle, in aid of the church, was also held, with tickets sold at R10 each. Vendors sponsored the prizes, and all proceeds went directly to the church. A total of 105 raffle tickets were sold on the day, continuing a record of consistent community support at every market.

Reflecting on the year, Solomon said the markets experienced both busy and quieter days, but had grown into a familiar and well-supported fixture in the community. The market’s popularity has been boosted by the nearby Saturday parkrun, with runners regularly stopping by afterwards – particularly for the church-run pancake stall. According to Solomon, the pancakes have become a signature attraction, made by church volunteers, including one woman aged 89, who still helps behind the scenes.

Looking ahead to 2026, Solomon said the hope is to attract even more visitors, not only vendors, but spectators as well. Live entertainment remains a key feature, with performers such as Sine from The Voice and multiple artists appearing at the final market of the year.
While the market serves as a fundraiser for the church, Solomon emphasised its importance to vendors who rely on it as a source of income. “The more feet that come through the market, the better the chances of vendors having a successful day.”
