More treats than tricks at the Melville Market

The market showcased the talents of vendors who either baked, painted or crafted products that made their way to each guests’ heart.

With the firm desire to have your day filled with more treats than tricks this Halloween, the Melville Market did what it does best… Putting some smiles on deserving faces.

Ernest Korkie, the organiser of the event, said this curated market was originally started as a platform to really highlight the efforts of the vendors, because, unlike most markets, this one is a registered non-profit organisation.

“So, as organisers, we don’t make money from vendor fees. Both organisers and vendors are dependent on the support of the community.”

The market is located at Melville Kruisgemeente Church, a venue Korkie describes as safe. Korkie also views Melville as a place rich in diversity. “This community represents all the aspects that make this country.”

He says this market is important for the community, as its main purpose is showcasing the products of local community members.

“People want nice homemade stuff, be it food, clothing, shoes, or other niche products they otherwise would not find at shops.”

He added that the market sources vendors who each do things a little bit differently, to give guests a unique experience.

This curated market’s array of vendors sells an assortment of products, from homemade flavoursome vegan brownies to handmade leather shoes, sure to have its guests leave with bags full of uniquely crafted items, and appetites that are fully satisfied.
