It was a 2025 filled with determination and purpose for Ward 99, and this year will see the continued pursuit. Councillor Hendrik Bodenstein shares on what more he expects to see within his ward.

Welcome back, Ward 99. As we enter 2026, we do so with renewed purpose and determination. Johannesburg is a city that challenges us every day, yet its people continue to push forward with grit and optimism. That’s why we believe in Johannesburg.

In 2026, I hope to strengthen service delivery responsiveness, expand community-led improvement projects, deepen partnerships with resident associations (RA) and community policing forums (CPF), grow our volunteer base, and prepare Ward 99 for a successful and high-participation 2026 local government election.

I look forward to building on the momentum created in 2025. With Linden’s global recognition and strong grassroots initiatives across the ward, I look forward to cleaner streets, safer public spaces, stronger networks, and more visible progress.

I implore community members to join your street or block group, RA, CPF, or park group. Volunteer for clean-ups, attend meetings, report issues correctly, and stay informed.

Residents can also join and support our local DA branch. Active citizenship matters, and showing up to vote in 2026 will be essential to shaping the future of our ward and our city.

2026 is our chance to aim higher and work smarter. Let’s keep showing Johannesburg what becomes possible when a united community steps forward. I believe in this ward, and I believe in its people.

This year, we step into a future where competence, accountability, and community partnership can restore pride in our city. Together, we will keep building a ward that leads by example.
