King David Victory Park teaches its learners why vaping is so harmful to their health.

King David Victory Park educated their learners on the harming effects of vaping.

According to the school’s counsellor Gita Lipschitz, the widespread use of vapes among teenagers is now a common problem in schools across South Africa.

“Sadly, this has now been taken to a more dangerous level with our children adding marijuana oil to the vapes. When inhaled, the high concentration of THC can have devastating effects on the lungs, brain and emotions.”

On the day, Dr Anton Meyberg, a specialist physician and pulmonologist, who worked on the front-line throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, shared his expertise about the impact of vaping on the teenage body.

He explained that vaping is the new epidemic among our youth. “It is a drug, habit forming, highly addictive and has serious side-effects such as irreversible lung damage. It can trigger AD/HD, mood swings and lapses in concentration,” he said. Adding that vaping changes a brain’s ability to think and remember.

Lipschitz concluded the learners benefitted greatly from hearing the hard scientific facts about vaping.
