Joburg’s dumbest criminal caught after suspect forgets to turn off a stolen phone

A stolen phone was tracked across the city leading to the arrest of two armed robbers.

An armed robbery at a business in Beyers Naude resulted in items being stolen by three armed men who were subsequently caught after a multi-agency operation.

Clive Maher from SCP Security said, “The suspects took five phones, a laptop, a purse, and some bank cards from customers. One of the suspects attempted to keep one of the phones for himself and put it in his pocket, hiding it from his partners in crime which led to their arrests.”

The stolen laptop was also recovered.

Recovered cell phones were found after being stolen hours before.

One suspect fled but the other two were apprehended and detained with all goods recovered except for the phone which led to the successful outcome.
