Bringing art to the streets of Westdene
Orban School celebrates World Art Day while also painting a picture of an issue they face daily.
Every year World Art Day is observed on April 15 and it is seen as celebration of the fine arts.
To acknowledge the day, Orban School decided to have a Drive Through Art Exhibition on April 14 that was showcased during peak hour traffic on the corner of Ayr Road and Winchester Street in Westdene.

The school’s Louine Van Der Vyver There said there was a festive atmosphere on the day and all motorists appreciated the effort to beautify the street, “Especially the dangerous donga right in the middle of the crossing.”

She said this gaping hole made it a nightmare to drive to and from school. Ayr Road in general for the past months has been an extremely dangerous traffic situation considering the number of children being transported to school on a daily basis, “It was decorated with vibrant art done by our primary learners during the first term. What a lovely way to brighten up the community on a Friday morning,” said van der Vyver.
