Weekend highlights: From Formula 1 thrills to community celebrations in Johannesburg

The excitement of motorsport and community spirit defined the weekend as Sandton hosted the Red Bull Showrun and the SPAR Women’s Challenge.

Yesterday, Sandton transformed into a playground of adrenaline as the Red Bull Showrun captivated motorsport fans with thrilling performances and the legendary David Coulthard behind the wheel of the iconic Red Bull Racing F1 car.

In a different vein of excitement, Glenrose Xaba emerged victorious in the SPAR Women’s Challenge, completing the 10km race in just 00:32:48 minutes and securing her place in history with a South African win in a highly competitive field.

The day’s festivities attracted approximately 10 000 runners, with colourful attire and high spirits dominating Emmarentia’s roads. Additionally, the St John’s College Tutu Walk in Rosebank honored the impactful legacy of Archbishop Tutu, bringing the community together in celebration.
