Next Gen maintains unbeaten record
The Next Gen FC B team continues their remarkable journey in the RCLFA, overcoming Old Parks in a nail-biting semi-final. With a solid performance and a crucial penalty, they head to the final, maintaining their impressive unbeaten streak.
The Next Gen FC B team secured their spot in the Rand Central Local Football Association final after defeating Old Parks 1–0 at Redford House.
Coming into the match with an impressive record of 20 consecutive games without a loss, Next Gen showcased their determination and skill on the field showing why they are a force to be reckoned with ahead of the final.

The match began cautiously, with both teams vying for control. Possession was evenly distributed, but the home team created more opportunities in the six-yard area, while Old Parks focused on a defensive strategy.
As the first half drew to a close, both teams regrouped, knowing the stakes were high. The second half saw a shift in momentum as both teams intensified their efforts.
The turning point came when the home team was awarded a penalty after a foul by Old Parks’ Bongani Sibiya, who received a red card.
Tylor Winnaar stepped up to take the penalty, displaying remarkable composure as he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, putting Next Gen ahead and closer to the final.
With the advantage of playing against 10 men, Next Gen pressed hard to extend their lead. Siyanda Khumalo came close to scoring again, curling a shot just wide of the top corner. He had another opportunity shortly after, heading a cross from Mizaan Variava directly at the Old Parks goalkeeper.

Despite Old Parks’ efforts to regroup and create chances, they struggled to convert their opportunities, ultimately succumbing to Next Gen’s relentless pressure. The match concluded with Next Gen celebrating their unbeaten season, having successfully navigated a tough semi-final.
After the match, Next Gen coach Ziyah Henry praised his team’s performance, emphasising their preparation and unity.
“We nullified all their counterattacks and played much better as a unit in the second half. I am super proud of the team,” he said, acknowledging Old Parks as one of their toughest opponents this season.
Old Parks coach Tanaka Mberi reflected on the match, expressing pride in his team’s effort despite the loss. “It is just unfortunate that we had to go down one player. I am proud of my boys for the work that they gave on the pitch,” he remarked.
Next Gen FC will now look forward to facing Stars of Africa in the final, aiming to continue their remarkable unbeaten streak and secure the championship title.
