The Boxer Super Run plans to make waves across Emmarentia

This debut event in Joburg will feature various start waves geared to match any runner's pace.

In just two weeks, the Boxer Super Run will make its Joburg debut at the Marks Park Sports Club on November 9.

This 5km event will feature four start waves tailored to celebrate the diverse abilities of Jozi’s running community: Open Wave, Super Social Wave, Elite Women, and Elite Men.

While participation in the elite waves is by invitation only, both the open and super social waves welcome all runners who embrace the spirit of the event and align with their personal race-day goals.

“We’re excited to bring the Boxer Super Run to Jozi this November,” said Lee-Ann Pillay, head of marketing at Boxer Superstores. “Our goal is simple – to welcome every kind of runner to the event.

The beauty of the 5km distance lies in its inclusivity: it’s accessible for first-timers, fun for social joggers. Still, it delivers an exhilarating test for seasoned athletes chasing fast times.”

Pillay explained the open wave, starting at 07:00, is perfect for competitive runners outside the elite field.

It is ideal for club athletes, school teams, or anyone eager to push hard and chase a personal best. The super social wave, starting from 08:00 to 09:30, is all about fun.

“Here, it’s less about times and more about enjoying the morning with family, friends, and colleagues. We encourage runners to get creative, dress up, and bring the energy – it’s a chance to make memories, not just mileage.”

The day will close off with the elite women’s and elite men’s waves, where South Africa’s finest will go head-to-head in a nail-biting showdown for the titles of King and Queen of the Boxer Super Run.
