Hijacked truck found in Newlands loaded with over R1.5m in tech
The multi-agency search effort leads to a major recovery of electronics.
A breakthrough in a hijacking case unfolded in Newlands on October 27, when a stolen delivery truck loaded with high-value electronics was traced and recovered thanks to fast teamwork by security and police units.
At around 13:55, SCP Security’s Control Room received a tracker alert for a white Mitsubishi Fuso FK13-240 that had been hijacked in Randburg. The vehicle was transporting valuable products when targeted.

The tracker led teams to the corner of 12th Street and Garden Road, where SCP Security’s reaction officer joined SAPS Flying Squad, TrackerSA, RenTrak, TAU Security, and 1Track, already coordinating a wide search.
After a thorough sweep, the truck was found concealed inside a property on Italian Road. Inside were sealed boxes packed with brand-new televisions, washing machines, and other electronics. Representatives from the courier company confirmed both the vehicle and its contents as theirs.
SCP Security managing director Clive Maher commended the operation, calling it a strong show of united action. “Thanks to the swift multi-agency response, all stolen goods were secured,” he said.

Although several items had already been offloaded before teams gained access, security staff worked closely with SAPS and partners to reload and document everything recovered. The estimated value of the goods exceeds R1.5m.
No arrests have been made, but investigations are underway with leads being actively followed.
