SCP Security nabs Roosevelt Park Bowling Club intruder

The suspect, who thankfully got away with nothing, was handed over to Sophiatown Police Station.

Suburban Control Centre’s (SCP) quick response to a break-in at Roosevelt Park Bowling Club saw them hand over a suspect to Sophiatown SAPS.

Manager at SCP Security, Jaun van der Westhuizen said at around 02:40 on December 31, their control room received an alarm activation from the premises.

“Our vehicle was dispatched and arrived within minutes. Our officer noticed a window was broken at the property and called for backup to do a full property search.”

Once backup arrived, the suspect was seen inside the building. “Our officers quickly scrambled and successfully apprehended the suspect inside the building.”

No items were stolen nor was any property damaged.

Speaking to the paper, president of the bowling club, Dave Putter thanked the security company for their assistance. “Their help gives one faith in the security measures put in place at the facility and we are grateful for them looking after our safety.”

The suspect was formally handed over to Sophiatown SAPS who will conduct further investigations.

Questions were sent to the police station regarding the incident.
