A 2026 filled with progress and purpose for Fairland CPF

The Fairland Community Policing Forum hopes for a year where community engagement grows even stronger.

The Fairland Community Policing Forum’s (CPF) public relations officer, Riaaz Peerbhai, takes time to share what the CPF envisages for 2026.

Here is what he had to say:

As we step into a new year, I find myself reflecting with deep gratitude on the journey our community has travelled together over the past twelve months. What I am most grateful for is the unwavering spirit of unity and co-operation shown by the residents of Fairland.

Throughout the challenges and triumphs of 2025, our community stood together with resilience, compassion, and a shared commitment to creating a safer environment for all. It is this collective strength that continues to inspire the work we do at the Fairland CPF.

Looking ahead to 2026, my hopes for our community are rooted in progress, safety, and partnership. I envisage a year where community engagement grows even stronger, where residents feel empowered to take an active role in neighbourhood safety, and where our collaborative efforts result in meaningful improvements to the overall wellbeing of Fairland.

Our goals include enhancing communication, expanding safety awareness programmes, and strengthening relationships with local law enforcement and community stakeholders.

On a personal level, I welcome the New Year with quiet reflection – taking time to appreciate the blessings of the past year and to set clear intentions for the one ahead. This moment of pause allows me to enter the new year grounded, focused, and committed to the service of our community.

To every resident beginning 2026, I want to offer a message of encouragement. This year is a fresh start, a new opportunity. No matter the difficulties faced in 2025, you have the strength to rise, rebuild, and reinvent. Believe in your ability to make positive changes for yourself, your family, and your community. The Fairland CPF stands beside you, ready to support, guide, and collaborate in creating a safer and more united neighbourhood.

There are several initiatives I am excited about in the coming year, particularly those aimed at increasing resident involvement in crime prevention, expanding youth development and safety education programmes, and strengthening our street-level communication networks.

These projects are designed, not only to improve safety, but also to deepen the sense of ownership and pride within our community.

A powerful lesson I carry forward from 2025 is that every voice matters and every contribution counts. Whether it’s reporting an incident, joining a patrol, attending a CPF meeting, or simply checking in on a neighbour – each action helps build the strong, caring community we all want to live in. Small acts truly do create big change.

In 2026, I hope to continue making a positive impact by promoting transparent communication, encouraging collaboration, and ensuring that residents feel heard and supported. My goal is to amplify community voices, strengthen partnerships, and help drive initiatives that uplift the vulnerable and empower the youth.

Reflecting on the past year, I am most proud of how Fairland united. From participating in safety initiatives to responding to community concerns and supporting each other during moments of need.

Our achievements, in 2025, were not the result of one individual or organisation, but of a community that understands the power of working together.

As we welcome 2026, may it be a year filled with progress, peace, and purpose. Let us continue building a Fairland that is safer, stronger, and more connected than ever before.

Wishing you all a prosperous, safe, and inspiring New Year.
