Nothing but the best for ward 86 in 2026

Councillor Chantelle Fourie-Shawe plans to continue to push against the many water woes that plague Ward 86.

Ward 86 councillor Chantelle Fourie-Shawe sets her clear objectives for 2026.

Here is what she had to say:

Happy New Year to every resident of Ward 86. I hope 2026 brings you strength, stability, and a renewed sense of hope – the kind that comes when communities stand together and demand better from their city.

My priorities for 2026 are clear. I will continue to push for real action on the Hursthill 1 and 2 reservoirs, the Crosby pumping system, and the broader Commando pressure zone.

Water stability is non-negotiable. I will also keep fighting for transparent municipal billing, faster turnaround times for queries, and proper maintenance of our roads, storm water drains, and parks. Illegal dumping, derelict properties, and noise disturbances remain major concerns, and they will stay on my desk until resolved.

2026 needs to be the year the city stops talking and starts delivering – and I will keep using every oversight tool available to make sure that happens.

However, I cannot do this alone. I need residents to continue reporting issues, sharing reference numbers, and keeping neighbourhood groups active and informed. Strong communities don’t happen by accident – they are built by people who choose to stay involved, stay vocal, and stand together.

Let’s make 2026 a year of action, accountability, and community strength. Ward 86 deserves nothing less.
