Held during break, the shavathon saw learners gather to spray or shave their hair in support of cancer awareness and to raise awareness for the Cancer Association of South Africa. The initiative formed part of a tribute to Ethan, who passed away on March 1 after battling cancer.

Students responded to the call to support the cause, with many taking part in the symbolic gestures that have become closely associated with cancer awareness campaigns. Hair sprayed in bright colours and shaved heads served as visible reminders of the message behind the event: Standing with those affected by cancer and showing support as a community.
