UJ solidify top spot
AUCKLAND PARK - University of Johannesburg remains on top of the Log standings after clashing with the University of Limpopo on 1 September.
Newcomers University of Johannesburg and University of Limpopo clashed at the Bunting Road Campus Sports Complex on 1 September.
The Varsity Football between the two teams ended on a 1–1 draw, which puts UJ on top of the Log standings.
First half of the match saw little of opportunities between the two teams. However, during the second half, UL gave UJ a run for their money when they came out blazing.
The visitors piled on the pressure, and were eventually rewarded when Clyde Kgatla scored from a free-kick, beating UJ with a stunning shot leading the game to 1–0. UJ was not going to let UL embarrass them at their home ground. They continued to press for the opener and were eventually rewarded for their enterprising play and managed to equalise with UL making the score 1–1.
Both teams were unable to score more goals – the match ended 1–1. UJ remains on top of the log.
The question now is, who will stop UJ’s dominance?
