Multi-talented sports fanatic
AUCKLAND PARK – Hoerskoel Vorentoe High School girl excels in male-dominated sports.
Elizabeth Mazivise, is multi-talented at sport and is a living example that girls can excel at any sports boys participate in.
She has won multiple medals in the various sports she’s competed in and is still determined to win more to add to her collection.
Mazivise, in Grade 11 at Hoërskool Voerentoe High School, said her older brother influenced her passion and inspired her interest in sports. She is captain of
the netball team, is the only girl in the cricket team, participates in athletics and is a goalkeeper in soccer.
She was also appointed as president of Hoërskool Vorentoe for the next two years.

“In 2014, I was awarded Junior Field Athlete when I broke the inter-high school record which I still currently hold,” she said. “My highlight is winning the best goalkeeper of the year at the Janine van Wyk Girls Football Development Programme awards last month. When my name was announced I was beyond excited and very proud because of the hard work I put in.”
Since her sporting career began she said she has won 30 medals, one shield and six trophies. She describes her family as her biggest fans who have always supported her sporting ambitions.
Her father, Emmanuel Mazivise said they realised when she was 10 years old that she was talented in sport. “She’s always been the one to decide which sports she wants to play and we just support her,” he said. “Our proudest moment was when she challenged herself to learn how to play ringball and eventually played it better than the more experienced players.
“She was invited to represent South Africa at the Goalthian Tournament in China and is currently looking for sponsorship to fund her trip. We would be happy if someone could sponsor the opportunity for her to play at an international tournament.”
