JBA victorious at bowls championship
RANDBURG - JBA comes out victorious in national tournament.
It was a battle of the coastal and inland teams at the finals of the Perfect Delivery Bowls SA ‘B’ Inter District Championship.
Hosted at the Roosevelt Bowling Club, the Johannesburg Bowls Association (JBA) men’s B team took on their Western Province Bowls Association counterparts while the JBA women’s team battled it out against the Eastern Province Bowls Association.
The JBA men and women’s teams took full advantage of being at home with the men’s team beating their Western Province opponents 11,5–0,5.
The women’s team also recorded a crowd-pleasing scoreline of 9–3 against their Eastern Province opponents.
The tournament was played on a league basis and each game was played over 21 ends, split into three sets of seven ends each.
One point was awarded to the team that won a set, two points for the team that won per game and two points were awarded for the overall winner.
