Women beat the men in Run Zone’s battle of the sexes
NORTHCLIFF – Local running club keeps things exciting with a Battle of the Sexes.
A challenge held by Run Zone Athletics Club saw its male and female members battle it out to see who could run the furthest.
The running club based in Northcliff has had to invent ways for members to stay fit and motivated and also still feel part of a greater community of runners during the lockdown.
The Battle of the Sexes was held over a weekend and participants had to run either 3km, 5km, 10km, 15km or 20km and then log their distance with the club.
The goal was not time but distance completed and the female members completely outclassed the male members, running a whopping 1 606km altogether compared the male members’ 676km.

“In the lockdown, we have had good feedback on the challenges we have held,” said the running club’s owner and chairperson, Graham Block.
“People have been motivated by the challenges and are keeping fit and positive.”
