Chiefs reign supreme at Marks Park to claim Gauteng Engen Knockout title
With silverware on the line, Kaizer Chiefs produced when it mattered most in the final against Kathorus Hyper Academy.
Kaizer Chiefs were crowned champions of the 2026 Engen Knockout Challenge, after a convincing 2–0 victory over Kathorus Hyper Academy in the final at Marks Park on July 19.
Chiefs looked dangerous from the opening stages and nearly broke the deadlock within the first 15 minutes. Lebohang Ndlamini produced an impressive run into the six-yard area, but fired his effort straight at the goalkeeper.
The breakthrough eventually came when Tashiel Rugunanan put Kaizer Chiefs ahead, giving his side a deserved lead after a dominant first-half display.
Chiefs doubled their advantage in the second half through Tseamo Mosana, putting the result beyond doubt. From that point on, the Soweto giants controlled possession, comfortably seeing out the remainder of the match to secure the title.

The triumph marks another successful chapter for the club’s youth development programme, with Kaizer Chiefs reaching three consecutive Engen Knockout Challenge finals and lifting the trophy for the second time during that run.
The victory also earns Chiefs a place in the prestigious Champ of Champs tournament later this year in Pretoria, where they will face the winners from other provinces.
Having won the national title in 2024, they will be aiming to repeat that achievement.
