WATCH: The City welcomes new executive mayor
JOBURG –The newly appointed Executive Mayor Jolidee Matongo is expected to announce members of his Mayoral Committee(MMC's) on August 11.

The City of Johannesburg’s 27th extra-ordinary council meeting elected Councillor Jolidee Matongo as the new executive mayor on August 10.
This comes after the Speaker of Council, Councillor Nonceba Molwele called the meeting in terms of Rule 16 of the Standing Rules and Orders of Council.

“Councillor Matongo, who was the former Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Finance in the current term of office, takes over for the remainder of the term following the recent passing of the executive mayor, Councillor Geof Makhubo due to Covid-19,” said the City in a statement.
