Water restrictions in Randburg

Cosmo City, Northcliff, Fairland, Honeydew, North Riding and Zandspruit are some of the areas in Joburg that have been affected by a lack of water supply recently.

As of August 27, Johannesburg Water revealed Rand Water issued a 20% water restriction notice to municipalities in Gauteng due to the network being under pressure, and demand exceeding supply.

Furthermore, Rand Water had a power supply issue at the Zuikerbosh purification works which negatively impacted the Palmiet pumping system that feeds the Meyers Hill reservoir, which supplies Johannesburg Water’s South Hills tower.

Johannesburg Water reservoirs restricted are:

• Halfway House South, Diepsloot Town and Abbatoir and Market – supplies greater City Deep, Tulisa Park Stafford and Steeledale
• Sandton No1 and Sandton No2, Malvern East, North East Areas, Linksfield Ridge Reservoir
• Meadowlands Res North and Meadowlands Res South – supplies Dobsonville, Jabavu, Orlando, Mofolo and Dube
• Braamfischerville Ext 12 and Braamfischer – supplies Braamfischer, Meadowlands and Mmesi Park
• Roodepoort Deep Township – supplies Hamberg, Rand Leases, Roodepoort and Creswell Park
• Protea Glen – supplies greater Protea Glen
