Bubbles Beyond Borders empowers young girls – (Gallery)

“This a simple campaign where people of any age and anywhere in the world get together, blow bubbles and pledge action to support gender equality and human rights for all genders in their communities."

Adverse weather did not deter attendees at the Bubbles Beyond Borders Leadership Day last Saturday (August 18) at St Dominic’s Newcastle.

The event was open to entrants between the ages of 12 and 18 years.

Bubbles Beyond Borders, a Leave No Girl Behind International (LNGBI) initiative, is a global campaign for gender equality and human rights for all, which is hosted by individuals, organisations and businesses worldwide during the month of August.

The Newcastle event featured presentations, interactive discussions and practical exercises.

“This a simple campaign where people of any age and anywhere in the world get together, blow bubbles and pledge action to support gender equality and human rights for all genders in their communities.

“The idea behind this campaign is that many small actions can lead to great change,” explained LNGBI co-founder, Haseena Patel.

To date, the Bubbles Beyond Borders campaign has reached South Africa, Nigeria, England, Norway, Poland, Netherlands, Germany, Pakistan, Australia, Canada, America, Trinidad and Antigua, with campaign leaders banding together to give voice to all those silenced because of their gender.
