DUNDEE: Murder accused abandons bail application

He is presently being detained in Ladysmith

Murder accused, Kenneth Edwin ‘Jimmy’ Mulhatton (30), abandoned his bail application when he made a brief appearance in the Dundee Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

He is charged with the murder of Ronnie Calitz and robbery with aggravating circumstances. Ronnie appeared to have been stabbed before his Beaconsfield Street house on the morning of September 16.

Mulhatton was arrested in Glencoe later that day after SAPS discovered Ronnie’s stolen bakkie outside a house near Mosque Lane. His lawyer Mr Bujram told Magistrate Mgwabi that Mulhatton no longer wanted to pursue his bail application.

He was told to appear in Court again on October 28 and is being detained in Ladysmith. A SAPS investigation is continuing.
